Hill Walks & A Highland Chef

We are delighted to be announce that we have teamed up with Andersons Highland Chef for our new hill walking holiday, Assynt & Sutherland: The Far North West. When we head to our base in Scourie for 5 days of walking, and 6 nights, in the unique mountainous landscape of Assynt and Sutherland, Elaine will be coming with us as our private chef. She will serve up breakfast, make our packed lunches and feed us heartily in the evenings ready for another day on the hill.

Combining Great Walking with Great Food

For the duration trip we will be staying in a holiday cottage in the small village of Scourie, from which we will access the iconic mountains of the area such as Suilven, Quinag and Arkle amongst others. We wanted to combine this fantastic scenery with fantastic food and went in search of the someone willing to join us on site to provide just that.

In conversation with Elaine it quickly became apparent that we would make a good team. Her passion for locally sourced top quality food, as well as her firm belief in the benefits of sharing good food and good hospitality, matched exactly what we were looking for. In her own words…

Our foundation is rooted in authentic, traditional hospitality with locals and visitors whom we love to call friends. Our guests come from all over the world and many are repeat clients.

Our genuine love of people and the stories that connect us on our unique adventures, create an experience saturated in love, friendship, and an appreciation for the beautiful elements that surround us throughout Scotland.

Without question, Elaine’s old-fashioned upbringing has influenced her style and flair for connecting with people face-to-face, learning about their adventures and hearing interesting stories about their families. She’s more than a chef who cooks, she cooks with love, in every single dish.

What can you expect

On this holiday you will be offered a traditional Scottish cooked breakfast (as well as porridge, granola and berries), filled rolls and home-bakes in your packed lunches, and a 3 course meal to finish every day. The menu will vary each day and you can expect it to feature Scottish lamb and fish, tasty starters and delicious deserts, with carefully chosen ingredients that are locally sourced where possible. What can you expect? Excellent food throughout an excellent week of walking is the answer!
